Welcome to the Evaluating Public Health Programs course. Each public health program has a unique goal, and as an evaluator, your role is to determine whether the program is achieving this goal and recommend ways to make the program more effective. In this course, you learn how to systematically evaluate a public health program for noncommunicable diseases using the CDC’s six-step Framework for Program Evaluation. This course is aligned to FETP Competency 10 and is intended for FETP mentors and residents.

• Identify the basic concept of why and when to evaluate public health programs.
• Explain the types of program evaluation.
• Discuss the CDC framework to evaluate a public health program.
